Jezernice Viaducts MTB race

Our main objective, not only when we shoot cycling races, is to find one, maybe a few good images that capture everything that is unforgettable, everything that speaks to us, the whole story, atmosphere, everything that we want to communicate to the viewer ... everything we want the audience to learn from several photographs taken at one event.

To achieve the main goal we have some points that we try to observe... Choose the right landscape, background, foreground, the main object in the landscape, the photographer's position with regard to the overall composition of the picture, the lens, the ratio between full-frame size and the main object, choose the height of the camera – top view/bottom view.

Finally, it is good to find a place where light and shadows create an interesting atmosphere. One of such places at the Jezernice Viaducts MTB race is the exit from the 260 m long and 6 m high Slavíčský tunnel. The place is pure magic...

Then we need to set up exposure metering modes with adjustments, focus, any extra-lighting of the scene with flash and then just shoot, continuously evaluate, correct and re-shoot.

And then, when you still find faults during processing, the chance to do it all over next year gives you a little comfort, although not much. Therefore, comments, advice and experience are welcome at sadlik@sadlik.cz

P.S.: We love Jezernice Viaducts MTB race. This was our third edition...
